Embark on an unforgettable adventure with the Tshaluna Trek, a journey that combines cultural immersion with the breathtaking beauty of Bhutan's natural landscapes. This trek, starting in Paro and concluding in Thimphu, is one of the easiest yet most rewarding trekking routes in the country. As you traverse this path, you'll pass through charming villages and vibrant rhododendron forests. To experience the full splendor of the blooming rhododendrons, plan your trek for the end of April or the first week of May.

Day 1

Arrival in Paro

Your journey begins with a scenic flight into Paro on Druk Air, Bhutan's national carrier. On clear days, this flight offers magnificent views of some of the world's highest peaks, including the towering Gangkar Puensum. As you descend into the lush green Paro Valley, the natural beauty of Bhutan unfolds before your eyes, setting the tone for the adventures ahead. Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by a representative from Authentic Bhutan Tours, who will drive you to Paro Rimpung Dzong, a significant center of civil and religious authority in the region. After a delightful lunch in Paro town, you will explore Drukgyel Dzong and Kyichu Lhakhang. Kyichu Lhakhang, built in the 7th century by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo, is one of the oldest and most sacred temples in Bhutan, steeped in history and spirituality. The evening offers a serene stroll around Paro Valley, known for its surpassing beauty, before enjoying dinner and an overnight stay at a comfortable hotel in Paro.

Day 2

Trek from Paro to Old Jele Dzong

The next day marks the beginning of your trekking adventure. After breakfast, you will visit the Paro National Museum and meet your trekking crew. Your trek starts from the vicinity of the National Museum, with the possibility of seeing snow-capped mountains on clear days. The day's trek will take you to Old Jele Dzong, covering a distance of 10 km in approximately 3-4 hours. Here, you will camp at an altitude of 3,350 meters, surrounded by the serene beauty of the Bhutanese landscape.

Day 3

Trek to Tshaluna

The following day, the trek continues with a descent through ancient trails lined with rhododendron forests, leading you to Tshaluna. This 10 km trek, taking around 4-5 hours, offers an immersive experience in the natural beauty of Bhutan. Your campsite at Tshaluna, situated at an altitude of 2,250 meters, provides a tranquil setting for rest and reflection.

Day 4

Trek to Phajoding via Pumla Monastery

As you progress on your trek, the trail ascends, offering stunning views of the surrounding valleys. The climb leads you to Pumla Monastery, where you will enjoy lunch before continuing towards Phajoding. On clear days, you may catch a glimpse of Gangkhar Puensum, Bhutan's highest peak. The day's trek covers 12 km, taking 4-5 hours, and concludes with camping at Phajoding at an altitude of 3,250 meters.

Day 5

Descent to Thimphu

The final leg of the trek descends through blue pine forests, bringing you into Thimphu. After a hearty lunch in Thimphu, you will have the opportunity to explore the city. Visit the Nunnery, Memorial Chorten, Handicraft Emporiums, Thimphu town, and Tashichho Dzong, immersing yourself in the rich cultural heritage of Bhutan. Your day concludes with dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel in Thimphu, such as Hotel Peaceful Resort or a similar standard.

Day 6

Departure from Paro

On the last day, you will be driven to Paro International Airport for your onward flight. As you bid farewell to Bhutan, your guide and driver will see you off, wishing you a safe and comfortable journey.
