Tashichho Dzong
Tashichho Dzong, or the "Fortress of the Glorious Religion," is a majestic Buddhist monastery and fortress situated on Thimphu's northern edge, Bhutan's capital. It serves as both the government seat and the central monk body, the dratshang.
With its white walls, red roofs, and golden-topped towers, the Dzong exemplifies traditional Bhutanese architecture and is a key landmark. It features significant religious relics, including a large Buddha statue in the main prayer hall.
Visitors can explore the Dzong's courtyards, frescoes, and gardens after 5 pm on weekdays and after 9 am on weekends and holidays. It also hosts major festivals like the Thimphu Tshechu, one of Bhutan's largest religious events.
