Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive Paro – Thimphu Sightseeing

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by your tour guide and driver. After completing the airport formalities, you will embark on a scenic one-hour drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, situated at an altitude of 2334 meters. As you journey through the verdant landscapes, you'll get your first glimpse of the pristine beauty that defines Bhutan.

Upon reaching Thimphu, check into your hotel and freshen up. In the afternoon, start your exploration of Thimphu with a visit to the impressive Tashichho Dzong, a fortress and monastery that houses the throne room and offices of the King of Bhutan. Next, visit the National Memorial Chorten, a stupa built in memory of the third King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. As the evening sets in, take a leisurely stroll around the bustling Thimphu market to get a sense of the local life and perhaps pick up some handicrafts as souvenirs. Enjoy a relaxed dinner and rest well for the adventures ahead.

Day 2

Thimphu Sightseeing

Start your day with a hearty breakfast before setting out to explore more of Thimphu's cultural and historical landmarks. Visit the Buddha Dordenma, a massive statue of Buddha overlooking the city, which offers panoramic views of the valley. Head to the Folk Heritage Museum for a glimpse into Bhutanese rural life and traditions.

Next, visit the National Institute for Zorig Chusum, commonly known as the Painting School, where students learn the traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan. Don’t miss the National Library, home to ancient manuscripts and texts. In the afternoon, explore the Takin Reserve, dedicated to Bhutan’s national animal, the Takin. End the day with a visit to the Crafts Bazaar to appreciate and purchase Bhutanese art and crafts. Return to your hotel for a comfortable night's stay.

Day 3

Thimphu to Punakha


Depart for Punakha, passing through the Dochula Pass (3,100 meters) with its 108 chortens (stupas) and panoramic views of the Himalayas. Upon reaching Punakha, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. After lunch, take a short hike to the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, offering splendid views of the Punakha Valley. End the day with a walk through the rice fields to Chimi Lhakhang, a temple dedicated to the Divine Madman, Drukpa Kunley.

Day 4

Punakha to Gelephu

Set out early for Gelephu, a drive of about 7-8 hours through diverse landscapes, from subtropical valleys to dense forests. Stop at Wangdue Phodrang to visit the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong (if it has been rebuilt after the 2012 fire). Upon arrival in Gelephu, check into your hotel and rest after the long drive. Later, explore the town of Gelephu, a major trade and commercial hub in southern Bhutan.

Day 5

Exploration of Gelephu

Spend the day exploring Gelephu and its surroundings. Begin with a visit to the Gelephu Tshachu, known for its therapeutic hot springs. The naturally heated waters are believed to have healing properties, and you can enjoy a relaxing soak while surrounded by nature.

Next, head to the Royal Manas National Park, one of Bhutan's oldest national parks. This protected area is rich in biodiversity and home to a variety of wildlife, including elephants, tigers, and golden langurs. Take a guided nature walk to explore the lush forests, spot rare bird species, and learn about the park's conservation efforts.

Afterward, visit the Bhutan Centennial Distillery, where you can learn about the production of Bhutanese spirits. Take a tour of the distillery, see the traditional methods used in brewing, and sample some of the locally produced drinks.

Conclude your day with a visit to the Thursday Market (or the Sunday Market if your visit coincides with it). These vibrant markets offer a glimpse into local life, with stalls selling fresh produce, handicrafts, and traditional Bhutanese goods. It's an excellent opportunity to interact with locals and purchase unique souvenirs.

Day 6

Gelephu to Tsirang

Drive to Tsirang, a journey of approximately 4-5 hours, with beautiful views of lush greenery and agricultural fields. Stop at Sarpang, a town en route, to enjoy the local scenery and interact with the friendly locals. Upon arrival in Tsirang, visit the Tsirang Dzong, a significant administrative and religious center in the region. Explore nearby villages to experience the rural lifestyle of southern Bhutan and take a nature walk through the serene landscapes.

Day 7

Tsirang to Paro via Wangdue

Begin the drive back to Paro, with a stop in Wangdue Phodrang. En route, visit the Gangtey Monastery in Phobjikha Valley, known for its scenic beauty and as a winter habitat for black-necked cranes. In Wangdue Phodrang, visit the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong (if it has been rebuilt after the 2012 fire) and the nearby villages to witness traditional Bhutanese crafts and lifestyles. Continue the drive to Paro and check into your hotel upon arrival.

Day 8

Paro – Departure

After breakfast, bid farewell to the enchanting Kingdom of Bhutan. Your guide will escort you to Paro International Airport for your departure flight. As you take off, cherish the memories of your incredible journey through this mystical land. Safe travels!
