Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive Paro – Thimphu Sightseeing

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by your tour guide and driver. After completing the airport formalities, you will embark on a scenic one-hour drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, situated at an altitude of 2334 meters. As you journey through the verdant landscapes, you'll get your first glimpse of the pristine beauty that defines Bhutan.

Upon reaching Thimphu, check into your hotel and freshen up. In the afternoon, start your exploration of Thimphu with a visit to the impressive Tashichho Dzong, a fortress and monastery that houses the throne room and offices of the King of Bhutan. Next, visit the National Memorial Chorten, a stupa built in memory of the third King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. As the evening sets in, take a leisurely stroll around the bustling Thimphu market to get a sense of the local life and perhaps pick up some handicrafts as souvenirs. Enjoy a relaxed dinner and rest well for the adventures ahead.

Day 2

Thimphu Sightseeing

Start your day with a hearty breakfast before setting out to explore more of Thimphu's cultural and historical landmarks. Visit the Buddha Dordenma, a massive statue of Buddha overlooking the city, which offers panoramic views of the valley. Head to the Folk Heritage Museum for a glimpse into Bhutanese rural life and traditions.

Next, visit the National Institute for Zorig Chusum, commonly known as the Painting School, where students learn the traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan. Don’t miss the National Library, home to ancient manuscripts and texts. In the afternoon, explore the Takin Reserve, dedicated to Bhutan’s national animal, the Takin. End the day with a visit to the Crafts Bazaar to appreciate and purchase Bhutanese art and crafts. Return to your hotel for a comfortable night's stay.

Day 3

Thimphu – Punakha Sightseeing

After breakfast, depart for Punakha, which lies at an altitude of 1242 meters. The journey takes about two hours and offers spectacular views as you cross the Dochu La Pass at 3100 meters. If the weather is clear, you can see a panorama of the Himalayan mountain range.

Upon arrival in Punakha, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, a stunning fortress located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. This dzong is one of the most beautiful in Bhutan and has served as the administrative center of the region for centuries. After lunch, take a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Temple of Fertility, dedicated to Drukpa Kunley, the Divine Madman. Spend the evening relaxing and enjoying the serene beauty of Punakha.

Day 4

Punakha – Wangdue Phodrang – Gangtey Sightseeing

Today, after breakfast, you will drive to Gangtey via Wangdue Phodrang. The drive takes about two hours, ascending to an altitude of 3000 meters. En route, stop at the town of Wangdue Phodrang, known for its traditional stone carvings and bamboo products. Visit the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, which sits atop a high ridge overlooking the river.

Continue your journey to the picturesque Phobjikha Valley, home to the beautiful Gangtey Monastery. The valley is known for its scenic splendor and is a winter roosting ground for the endangered black-necked cranes. Spend the afternoon exploring the valley and visit the Crane Information Centre to learn more about these majestic birds. Enjoy the tranquil ambiance of the valley as you relax for the evening.

Day 5

Gangtey – Paro Sightseeing

After breakfast, embark on a five-hour drive back to Paro. The journey is long but rewarding, with ample opportunities to enjoy the stunning Bhutanese landscapes. Upon arrival in Paro, check into your hotel and take some time to relax.

In the afternoon, visit the Rinpung Dzong, a fortress-monastery overlooking the Paro Valley. The dzong houses a monastery and government offices, and it also serves as the venue for the annual Paro Tsechu festival. Next, visit the Ta Dzong, which houses the National Museum of Bhutan. The museum's collection includes ancient artifacts, weapons, and artworks. End your day with a stroll along the charming streets of Paro, lined with traditional Bhutanese houses and shops.

Day 6

Paro Sightseeing – Hike to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery

Today is the highlight of your trip – the hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery, also known as Paro Taktsang. After an early breakfast, drive to the base of the mountain and begin your hike. The trail is approximately 7 kilometers and takes about 4 hours round trip. The monastery clings to a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley, offering breathtaking views.

The Tiger’s Nest is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in the Himalayas. Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche flew to this site on the back of a tigress and meditated in a cave here. Explore the monastery and soak in the spiritual ambiance. After the hike, return to Paro and spend the rest of the day at leisure, perhaps indulging in a relaxing hot stone bath.

Day 7

Paro – Departure

After breakfast, bid farewell to the enchanting Kingdom of Bhutan. Your guide will escort you to Paro International Airport for your departure flight. As you take off, cherish the memories of your incredible journey through this mystical land. Safe travels!
