Day 1

Arrival – Paro to Thimphu

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by your guide and driver. After a warm welcome, embark on a scenic drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. En route, enjoy the picturesque landscape of lush valleys, terraced rice fields, and traditional Bhutanese villages. Once in Thimphu, visit the impressive Tashichho Dzong, a fortress-monastery that houses the throne room and offices of the king. In the evening, take a leisurely stroll through the city, visiting the vibrant local market and mingling with friendly locals. Overnight in Thimphu.

Day 2

Thimphu Sightseeing

Today, immerse yourself in Thimphu’s rich cultural and historical heritage. Start with a visit to the National Memorial Chorten, a stupa built in memory of the third King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Continue to the Folk Heritage Museum to explore traditional Bhutanese life and culture. Visit the Textile Museum to admire the intricate handwoven fabrics Bhutan is famous for. In the afternoon, see the impressive Buddha Dordenma statue, offering panoramic views of the valley. End the day with a visit to the Takin Preserve to see Bhutan’s national animal. Overnight in Thimphu.

Day 3

Thimphu – Punakha Sightseeing 

After breakfast, drive to Punakha, the ancient capital of Bhutan. The journey takes you over the Dochula Pass (3,100 m), where you can enjoy stunning views of the Himalayan ranges and the 108 memorial chortens. Upon arrival in Punakha, visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong, located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. The dzong is a stunning example of Bhutanese architecture and is considered one of the most beautiful in the country. Afterward, take a short hike to the Chimi Lhakhang, the temple of the Divine Madman, known for its fertility blessings. Overnight in Punakha.

Day 4

Punakha – Wangdue Phodrang – Gangtey Sightseeing

Today, drive to the beautiful Phobjikha Valley, home to the endangered Black-necked cranes. En route, stop at Wangdue Phodrang to visit the ruins of the Wangdue Dzong and explore the local market. Continue to Gangtey, where you will visit the Gangtey Monastery, an important Nyingma monastery in Bhutan. Spend the afternoon exploring the picturesque valley, known for its stunning scenery and tranquil environment. If you visit between November and February, you may have the chance to see the Black-necked cranes. Overnight in Gangtey.

Day 5

Gangtey – Trongsa Sightseeing – Bumthang

Embark on a scenic drive to Bumthang, the cultural heartland of Bhutan. En route, stop at Trongsa to visit the Trongsa Dzong, the largest fortress in Bhutan and a significant historical and religious site. Also, visit the Ta Dzong, a watchtower that now houses a museum showcasing Bhutanese history and culture. Continue your journey through dense forests and mountain passes to reach Bumthang, known for its beautiful landscapes and spiritual sites. Overnight in Bumthang.

Day 6

Bumthang Sightseeing

 Spend the day exploring Bumthang’s rich historical and religious heritage. Visit Jakar Dzong, also known as the Castle of the White Bird. Explore the Kurje Lhakhang, a sacred site where Guru Rinpoche meditated. Visit the Jambay Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. End the day with a visit to Tamshing Lhakhang, known for its ancient Buddhist paintings. Enjoy a leisurely walk through the peaceful valley, soaking in the serene atmosphere. Overnight in Bumthang.

Day 7

Bumthang – Mongar

After an early breakfast, set out for Mongar, a journey that takes you through some of Bhutan’s most beautiful landscapes. The drive is long but incredibly scenic, passing through forests, alpine meadows, and traditional villages. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant and take short breaks to enjoy the views. Upon arrival in Mongar, relax and enjoy the hospitality of the locals. Overnight in Mongar.

Day 8

Mongar – Trashigang Sightseeing  

Today, drive to Trashigang, the largest district in Bhutan. En route, visit the Drametse Monastery, one of the most important religious sites in eastern Bhutan. Upon arrival in Trashigang, visit the Trashigang Dzong, a fortress that commands a spectacular view of the surrounding valley. Explore the local market and interact with the friendly residents. Overnight in Trashigang.

Day 9

Trashigang – Excursion to Tashi Yangtse

Embark on an excursion to Tashi Yangtse, a town known for its traditional arts and crafts. Visit the Chorten Kora, a large stupa built in the Nepalese style. Explore the Tashi Yangtse Institute for Zorig Chusum, where students learn the 13 traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan. Return to Trashigang in the evening. Overnight in Trashigang.

Day 10

Trashigang – Excursion to Sakteng

Today, take a scenic drive to Sakteng, a remote village inhabited by the Brokpa people, a semi-nomadic community. Explore the unique culture and lifestyle of the Brokpa, known for their distinctive dress and traditional practices. Enjoy the stunning landscapes and serene environment. Return to Trashigang in the evening. Overnight in Trashigang.

Day 11

Trashigang – Excursion to Kanglung and Yonphula Gompa

Head out for a day trip to Kanglung and Yonphula Gompa. Visit Sherubtse College, the first college in Bhutan, located in Kanglung. Continue to Yonphula Gompa, a revered monastery with beautiful views of the surrounding valley. Return to Trashigang in the evening. Overnight in Trashigang.

Day 12

Trashigang – Mongar

Retrace your journey back to Mongar, enjoying the scenic drive through the lush valleys and mountains. Upon arrival, spend the afternoon exploring Mongar town or relaxing at your hotel. Overnight in Mongar.

Day 13

Mongar – Bumthang

Today, drive back to Bumthang, retracing your route through the beautiful landscapes of eastern Bhutan. Enjoy the scenic views and take breaks along the way to stretch and take photos. Upon arrival in Bumthang, relax and enjoy a restful evening. Overnight in Bumthang.

Day 14

Bumthang – Paro Sightseeing

This morning, take a short but breathtaking mountain flight to Paro, offering stunning aerial views of Bhutan’s majestic landscapes. Upon arrival in Paro, visit the National Museum, housed in the Ta Dzong, to learn about Bhutanese history and culture. Explore the Paro Dzong, a beautiful fortress overlooking the valley. In the evening, stroll through the charming town of Paro. Overnight in Paro.

Day 15

Paro – Excursion to Haa Valley

Set out for a day trip to the tranquil Haa Valley, one of Bhutan’s most picturesque and least-visited regions. Drive through Chele La Pass, the highest motorable pass in Bhutan, offering stunning views of the Himalayan ranges. Explore the serene valley, visit Lhakhang Karpo and Lhakhang Nagpo, and enjoy a picnic lunch in the scenic surroundings. Return to Paro in the evening. Overnight in Paro.

Day 16

Paro – Hike to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery 

Today, embark on a hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Paro Taktsang), perched precariously on a cliffside. The hike is challenging but rewarding, with stunning views and a serene atmosphere. Explore the monastery, believed to be the meditation site of Guru Rinpoche. After the hike, return to Paro and relax at your hotel. Overnight in Paro.

Day 17

Departure (End of Eastern Bhutan Tour)
