Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival – Paro to Thimphu

Arrive at Paro International Airport where you will be greeted by your guide. After a warm welcome, you’ll drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, a journey of about 1.5 hours. The scenic drive along the Paro Chu and Thimphu Chu rivers is a gentle introduction to Bhutan's natural beauty. After checking into your hotel, enjoy a leisurely evening exploring the quaint streets of Thimphu, visiting local cafes, and getting a taste of Bhutanese cuisine.

Day 2

Thimphu - Cultural Sightseeing

Your day begins with a visit to the National Memorial Chorten, a revered stupa built in memory of the third King. Next, explore the Folk Heritage Museum to get an insight into the traditional Bhutanese way of life. Visit the National Institute for Zorig Chusum, where you can witness students learning the 13 traditional arts and crafts. End your day with a visit to Tashichho Dzong, the seat of the national government and the summer residence of the monastic body.

Day 3

Thimphu to Punakha

After breakfast, drive to Punakha, the ancient capital of Bhutan. En route, stop at Dochula Pass (3,100 meters) to admire the stunning panoramic views of the Himalayan range and the 108 chortens that decorate the pass. Upon arrival in Punakha, visit the Punakha Dzong, one of the most beautiful and significant fortresses in Bhutan, situated at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers.

Day 4

Punakha to Phobjikha (Gangtey)

Today, drive to the picturesque Phobjikha Valley, a glacial valley known for its scenic beauty and as the winter home of the endangered black-necked cranes. Visit Gangtey Monastery, the only Nyingmapa monastery in western Bhutan. Spend the evening exploring the serene valley, taking in the tranquil atmosphere and enjoying a nature walk through the local villages.

Day 5

Phobjikha to Bumthang via Trongsa

Depart for Bumthang, the cultural heartland of Bhutan. On the way, stop at Trongsa to visit the Trongsa Dzong, the largest fortress in Bhutan, which has played a pivotal role in the country's history. Continue your journey to Bumthang, passing through beautiful landscapes of rolling hills and lush forests.

Day 6

Bumthang Sightseeing

Spend the day exploring Bumthang's rich cultural heritage. Visit Jakar Dzong, known as the "Castle of the White Bird," and Jambay Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. Discover Kurjey Lhakhang, where Guru Rinpoche meditated, and Tamshing Lhakhang, founded by the Buddhist saint Pema Lingpa. End your day with a stroll through Bumthang town, interacting with the friendly locals.

Day 7

Bumthang - Day Excursion to Tang Ugyen Choling Palace

Today, take a day trip to Tang Valley to visit the Ugyen Choling Palace, now a museum that offers deep insights into the lifestyle of Bhutanese nobility in ancient times. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the riverside and explore the charming Tang Valley before returning to Bumthang in the evening.

Day 8

Bumthang to Mongar

Embark on a scenic drive to Mongar, crossing the Thrumshing La Pass (3,800 meters), one of Bhutan's highest motorable passes. The journey offers breathtaking views of rugged mountains, dense forests, and pristine valleys. Upon arrival in Mongar, check into your hotel and relax for the evening.

Day 9

Mongar to Lhuntse – Drive Back to Mongar

Today, drive to Lhuntse, a region known for its weavers and intricate textiles. Visit Lhuntse Dzong, perched on a hill overlooking the Kurichu River. Explore the local villages and interact with the artisans. After an enriching day, drive back to Mongar for an overnight stay.

Day 10

Mongar to Trashigang

Continue your journey to Trashigang, the largest district in Bhutan. The drive takes you through lush forests and quaint villages. Upon arrival, visit Trashigang Dzong, perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the Drangme Chhu River. Spend the evening exploring the town and mingling with the locals.

Day 11

Trashigang – Day Excursion to Trashiyangtse

Take a day trip to Trashiyangtse, a small town known for its traditional crafts and the Chorten Kora, a large white stupa built in a Nepalese style. Visit the Trashiyangtse Institute for Zorig Chusum, where students learn traditional arts and crafts. Return to Trashigang in the evening.

Day 12

Trashigang – Day Excursion to Merak Villages

Embark on an adventurous day trip to the remote Merak villages, home to the semi-nomadic Brokpa people. Experience their unique culture, traditional dress, and lifestyle. Enjoy a hike through the beautiful landscapes of the eastern Himalayas before returning to Trashigang.

Day 13

Trashigang to Paro (Domestic Flight)

Fly back to Paro from Trashigang. After landing, visit the National Museum housed in the Ta Dzong, which offers a fascinating insight into Bhutanese culture and history. Spend the evening exploring Paro town, visiting local shops, and sampling traditional Bhutanese dishes.

Day 14

Paro - Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

Today, embark on a hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest. This sacred site clings to a cliff 900 meters above the Paro Valley and is one of Bhutan's most important pilgrimage sites. The hike offers stunning views and a rewarding spiritual experience. Return to Paro in the afternoon for some rest and relaxation.

Day 15

Departure

After breakfast, your guide will escort you to Paro International Airport for your departure flight. Bid farewell to Bhutan, carrying with you unforgettable memories of your journey through this enchanting Himalayan kingdom.
