Day 1

Arrive Paro – Thimphu Sightseeing

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you'll be greeted with a warm Bhutanese welcome. Your adventure begins with a scenic drive to Thimphu, the capital city. The drive offers stunning views of the Himalayan landscapes. Upon arrival in Thimphu, you'll check into your hotel and start your sightseeing tour. Visit the National Memorial Chorten, a stupa built in memory of the third king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Explore the Tashichho Dzong, the seat of the national government and the central monastic body. Stroll around the bustling local market and perhaps pick up some Bhutanese handicrafts. End the day with a visit to the Buddha Dordenma, a gigantic statue overlooking the city, offering panoramic views.

Day 2

Thimphu Sightseeing

After breakfast, continue your exploration of Thimphu. Start with a visit to the Folk Heritage Museum to gain insights into traditional Bhutanese life. Then, head to the National Library, which houses ancient manuscripts. The Institute for Zorig Chusum, commonly known as the Painting School, is a must-visit to see students mastering the 13 traditional arts and crafts. After lunch, visit the Motithang Takin Preserve to see Bhutan’s national animal, the takin. End the day at the Craft Bazaar, where you can purchase traditional Bhutanese crafts directly from the artisans.

Day 3

Thimphu – Punakha Sightseeing

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Punakha, the old capital of Bhutan. The drive takes you through the Dochula Pass, which offers stunning views of the snow-capped Himalayas on clear days. Visit the Druk Wangyal Chortens, 108 stupas built by the eldest Queen Mother. In Punakha, explore the Punakha Dzong, one of the most beautiful and significant dzongs in Bhutan. Situated at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, the dzong is a marvel of Bhutanese architecture. Later, enjoy a short hike to the Chimi Lhakhang, a fertility temple dedicated to the Divine Madman, Lama Drukpa Kunley.

Day 4

Punakha – Gangtey Sightseeing

Today, you will drive to the beautiful Phobjikha Valley, home to the Gangtey Monastery. The valley is known for its scenic beauty and as the winter home of the black-necked cranes. Upon arrival, visit the Gangtey Monastery, perched on a small hill that rises from the valley floor. After exploring the monastery, take a nature trail hike through the picturesque valley. The serene landscape, with meandering streams and vibrant birdlife, makes for a perfect day of relaxation and natural beauty.

Day 5

Gangtey – Trongsa Sightseeing – Bumthang

After breakfast, set off on a longer drive to Bumthang, with a stop in Trongsa. En route, visit the Trongsa Dzong, the largest dzong in Bhutan, which commands a strategic position above the Mangde Chhu gorge. This dzong is historically significant as the ancestral home of Bhutan’s royal family. Also, visit the Ta Dzong, a watchtower that now houses a museum dedicated to the Wangchuck dynasty. Continue your journey to Bumthang, the spiritual heartland of Bhutan. Check into your hotel and relax after a long day of travel.

Day 6

Bumthang Sightseeing

Spend the day exploring the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Bumthang. Visit Jakar Dzong, known as the "Castle of the White Bird." Then, explore the sacred Kurje Lhakhang, where Guru Rinpoche meditated and left his body imprint on a rock. Continue to Jambay Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. After lunch, visit Tamshing Lhakhang, known for its ancient wall paintings. End your day with a leisurely stroll through the charming town of Bumthang.

Day 7

Bumthang – Ogen Choling Palace

Today, take a short drive to the Ogyen Choling Palace, a beautiful and historical complex. The palace houses a museum that offers a fascinating glimpse into Bhutan’s feudal past and the lifestyle of the nobility. Explore the well-preserved artifacts, traditional tools, and manuscripts. The peaceful surroundings and the rich history make this visit a memorable experience.

Day 8

Bumthang – Paro Sightseeing

In the morning, take a short mountain flight back to Paro. The flight offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks. Upon arrival, begin your exploration of Paro. Visit the National Museum housed in the Ta Dzong, which offers a comprehensive overview of Bhutanese culture and history. Then, explore the Rinpung Dzong, a fortress-monastery overlooking the Paro Valley. Stroll through the charming Paro town and perhaps visit a local farmhouse to experience Bhutanese hospitality.

Day 9

Paro Valley – Hike to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery

One of the highlights of your trip, today’s hike takes you to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Paro Taktsang). The hike is approximately 7 kilometers and takes around 4 hours round trip. The trail ascends through a forest of pine trees, with glimpses of the monastery along the way. The Tiger’s Nest is perched on a cliffside, offering stunning views of the valley below. The monastery is one of Bhutan’s most sacred sites, and the hike is both challenging and rewarding. After the hike, return to your hotel for some well-deserved rest.

Day 10

Paro – Departure

After breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell to the enchanting kingdom of Bhutan. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some free time for last-minute shopping or a final stroll around Paro. Your guide will transfer you to Paro International Airport for your departure, marking the end of a memorable 10-day journey through Bhutan. Safe travels!
